Marseille is one of the last independent powers on Valedrune. Along with the Kingdom of Artmegía and the small city of Pentamarone, it is one of the only holdouts left after the Endymion Empire swallowed nearly all of the continent’s once-independent city-states. The Empire is still reeling from a recent failed attempt to annex it.
What Is Known
- A holdout against the Empire. Per Tommy’s pre-campaign lore post (see Starting Places), Marseille resisted annexation, and the failure still weighs on the Empire.
- Aren wants to go there. After her private audience with Madame Verre in Session 12, she said she wants to visit (heard at the table as “Marcio”): “I know interesting ways of magic there.” It may hold something useful against her undead problem. She wouldn’t say more.
- Myrna Nor has been asked for its history, via the Sending Stones in Session 12. No answer yet.
- Possibly home to the Grand Spellbook Tower. Marka of the WitchCrafters said in Session 11 that she studied at the Grand Spellbook Tower in “Marcell” (as heard). It’s likely the same city, but that hasn’t been confirmed at the table.
