Professor Valentine is a Dean of Witherbloom College and a full vampire — a sangromancer who receives visions from the blood he drinks. Uniquely among his kind, he has publicly denounced the higher vampires, which has made him a standing target for vampire assassins. He mentors the born-dhampir student Aurora Luna Wynterstarr.
A Potential Source on the Severance
As one of the few active vampires the party can plausibly approach, Valentine represents a rare living witness to deep history. As Rosie pointed out in Session 7, vampires are the only higher beings still active in the world and likely among the oldest living beings — which may make them the only ones who truly remember the Severance, an event mortals do not understand. If any safe source exists for that knowledge, it is a vampire who has already turned against his own — like Valentine.
Drolta intends to visit him at some point; the party chose to prioritize the Nephthys temple and White Forest first, so the meeting is deferred. Aren, a cleric sworn against the undead, floated simply destroying him — an unresolved tension for whenever the party does reach Witherbloom College.
