A mysterious event that saw the disappearance of nearly all of the Primordial Beings. It has been lost to history what exactly the Severance was or how it caused the disappearance of the Higher Beings and the emergence of the mortals as the dominant force in Astrodia nearly 1000 years ago, but the Beings’ lingering power can still be felt across the land.
Session 6 — Simone’s Hypothesis
During the S.A.T.O. meeting, Simone proposed that arcane magic may not be native to Astrodia. Before the Severance, there are no records of mortal wizards casting spells — all magic flowed from divine or higher-being sources. After the Severance, mortals could suddenly harness arcane magic on their own. This frames the Severance as the turning point that put arcane power into mortal hands. Session 12 — Timeline (September 23, 2026)
Tommy clarified the timeline at the table: the Severance was about a millennium ago, consistent with the “nearly 1000 years ago” above. (He put the Great Cataclysm at about 150 years ago; see its Timeline Note.)
The Temple of Venus mural session gave the broader order as scripture frames it: creation → the war with the Dark Lords → millennia → the Severance → millennia → the Cataclysm. (As summarized in the Session 12 recap; note the “millennia” between the Severance and the Cataclysm doesn’t sit neatly with a ~1,000-year Severance and a ~150-year Cataclysm.)
