The Moon is the disputed tenth Agent of the Solemn Pantheon. Some theologians argue she is a true Agent; the canonical count holds at nine. Either way, the faithful believe she is a sentient being with power much like the Agents — but with a different purpose.
The Protector of the Agents
Where the nine canonical Agents govern their respective domains over the mortal realm, the Moon’s role is to protect the Agents themselves. She is said to reach out to mortals she deems worthy to aid her in whatever act of protection she is undertaking — choosing a “lucky few” to serve that end.
Connection to Red
Red has been having recurring dreams of the moon — and, in a related dream, of Venus’s three orbs arranged in front of the moon. He came to Lathen partly chasing these dreams as “things started happening.” The Lathen priest’s read: the Moon may be reaching out to Red as one of her chosen. The priest promised to research the Moon’s worship (there may be a dedicated temple somewhere) and report back.
Session 12 — The Priest of Venus (September 23, 2026)
At the Temple of Venus in Pentamarone, Red told his dream again: three spheres (purple, blue, and red) orbiting the moon while animals sat staring at it. The priest’s account of the Moon matched the Lathen priest’s:
- She is thought to be a tenth Agent, though that’s disputed.
- She may instead be the protector of the Agents — the one who “makes sure that everything stays as it should.” That includes protection from the Dark Lords, “ideally.”
His reading of the dream itself: perhaps the divine is inspiring Red to create something with animals.
