Venus is the Agent of Creation, one of the Hands of the Solemn Pantheon. She governs the making of new things — new ideas, invention, and anything in which something arises from nothing. She is widely revered, and often prayed to by entrepreneurs and inventors seeking to bring a new product or work into being.
The Three Orbs
Venus is depicted with three orbs — her muses, through which she channels her divine abilities. These orbs are said to sometimes present themselves to mortals as a form of divine inspiration.
Connection to Red
Red has a recurring dream of three spheres — purple, blue, and red — twisting around the moon, with animals gathered beneath. Lorehold apprentices (Session 3) and later the Lathen priest (Session 7) both identified the orbs as Venus’s three orbs. Combined with Red’s separate dreams of the moon (see The Moon), this marks him as someone the divine may be reaching out to.
A Temple in Pentamarone (Session 10)
While the rest of the party shopped the Pentamarone market, Aren kept an ear out for anything religious and overheard a passerby praising “the service at the Temple of Venus yesterday” — establishing an active Temple of Venus in Pentamarone, somewhere outside the market circle.
Aren intends to pay her respects there. Given Red’s unexplained connection to Venus’s three orbs — and the fact that he woke that same morning from a dream of something grand and then the same thing in ruins — the party has not yet visited it. Open thread. (Visited in Session 12 — see below and Temple of Venus.)
Session 11 confirmed the scale of it. Asked by Aren whether there was a temple to Pluto anywhere in the city, the WitchCrafters said no — “most of the people here worship Venus, so there’s a temple to Venus.” Venus is Pentamarone’s principal faith, which is a fitting patron for a city that exists entirely to make new things: she is the Agent of Creation, and Pentamarone is a city of crafters.
Session 12 — The Temple of Venus (September 23, 2026)
The Chalice Judged “Sinful”
The WitchCrafters’ report on the Golden Chalice concluded that it generates something from nothing — no components, no ambient arcane magic, no siphoning from elsewhere. Genni’s verdict:
“And I think that is what makes it sinful. From our best ability, we believe that this object violates the laws of nature — and specifically, quite appropriately, the domain of the Agent of Creation.”
The WitchCrafters themselves mostly honor Venus, understanding their crafts as channeling the Agent of Creation. This finding set up the party’s theory that each Sinful Spoil may mock a different Agent (see Agents).
The Visit
The Fallen went to the Temple of Venus to learn whether Venus has enemies who might build something to mock her. The statue out front shows Venus with her three orbs, the muses of creation — matching the statue on the roof of Morgana’s Tower. The entry-hall scriptures say Venus lets those who pray to her thrive and manifest what they desire in their lives.
The Priest’s Account
- Venus is the Agent of Creation, one of the hands of the Solemn. She watches over all artistic expression and the making of goods and services, and works through her three muses, which usually appear as spheres orbiting her.
- No documented ill will between the Agents — they respect each other’s domains.
- The Dark Lords do hold ill will toward her, the Morning Star most of all. Venus was one of the hands they felt had overreached, but he knows of no personal feud.
Red’s Dream, Read Again
Red described his dream — three spheres (purple, blue, and red) orbiting The Moon while animals sat staring at it. The priest’s reading: the Moon may be the protector of the Agents, and perhaps the divine is inspiring Red to create something with animals. “I love animals.”
Still Open
The party has asked a S.A.T.O. Satyr to research Venus’s enemies (results not yet reported).
