The appraiser the party once grilled at the Fire Jolt Café — secretly a member of the S.A.T.O., working undercover in Academy administration as a junior apprentice in the Arcane Reclamation Initiative. Stoic and dry, he was less than thrilled to be recognized: “they almost ruined my operation.”

Role in the S.A.T.O.

Tobin is the Satyrs’ man on the inside. His post in the Arcane Reclamation Initiative (alongside Ms. Maris) gives the group eyes on the Academy’s item watch list, internal records, and whatever the administration is quietly hunting. He is the most exposed member of the group — being seen with the party in public is a real risk to his cover.

What He’s Done / Watches

  • Registered the Golden Chalice with the Academy’s Arcane Reclamation Initiative. The Academy now knows the party holds one — but a magically binding agreement prevents them from repossessing it until the deadline expires (the clock is still ticking).
  • Surfaced an Academy record of the hunt for the The Seeker of the Sinful Spoils — a woman in black and red matching the figure from Asha’s dream. The party theorizes the artifacts themselves may be the “Sinful Spoils.”
  • Will keep watch from inside the administration for any leads on Asha’s missing mother, who vanished after Asha’s expulsion.

Session 10 — The First Successful Satyr Roll (August 26, 2026)

Tobin’s standing assignment — what and how many are the Sinful Spoils — came through. His 24-word report over the Sending Stones:

“Tobin here. Checked Academy. Knows of four Sinful Spoils. Spear, book, chalice, dress. They think Seeker already has one. Will continue to investigate.”

Four items, confirmed against Academy records, matching Asha’s dreams exactly — and the Academy believes the Seeker already holds one. See The Seeker of the Sinful Spoils.

New assignment, sent the same evening:

“Tobin, what is the Academy’s plan to get the chalice back from us?”

This puts him squarely on counter-intelligence against his own office — the Arcane Reclamation Initiative — with roughly 15 days left on the Golden Chalice’s repossession clock. Of every Satyr, he is the one whose cover this task most endangers.

Session 11 — A 99, and It Wasn’t Enough (September 9, 2026)

His new assignment — what is the Academy’s plan to reclaim the chalice? — failed on the first day and then came back on the second with a roll of 99. The answer was still barely an answer:

“Don’t know exactly what repo man is. Some kind of experiment academy is working on. Oracle may be involved.”

The repo man may not be a man. The party’s read is an Academy experiment — the table’s favourite candidate being its cogwork constructs — tied somehow to the Oracle in the Hall of Oracles, the Snarl of raw magic that powers the university.

That a near-perfect roll produced only this was itself the takeaway:

“I think we need to put him on a different task, because if that’s what you get with a 99…”

New standing assignment: the Oracle. Send all you can.

Tobin remains the most exposed Satyr — now investigating the most guarded thing at his own workplace, on behalf of the people his office is trying to repossess an artifact from.

Session 12 — Still on the Oracle (September 23, 2026)

When the party sent out a new round of Satyr tasks, Tobin’s Oracle assignment was kept as ongoing. No new report. The repossession clock is now about 10 days. See Session 12 Recap — Something from Nothing > Word to the Satyrs.
