A figure the Academy is secretly hunting, revealed by Tobin from Academy records during the S.A.T.O. meeting (Session 6, May 31, 2026). Depicted as a woman dressed in black and red.

Identity

  • Matches the woman in black with red who appears in Asha’s dream — kneeling in the White Forest, reaching out toward something.
  • The Academy is actively trying to keep something from her — the so-called “Sinful Spoils.”

The Sinful Spoils

The party theorizes that the artifacts themselves are the “Sinful Spoils” the Seeker pursues — the Golden Chalice among them. The Academy’s interest in collecting such artifacts (see Arcane Reclamation Initiative) may be an effort to keep them out of the Seeker’s reach.

It remains unknown whether the Seeker is a threat or an ally — and why she appears in Asha’s dream.

Session 8 — Four Items, Two Women

Asha’s recurring dreams, told in full on the road north, gave the party a concrete list of what the Spoils may be — four objects, wielded by two distinct women, neither matching the wanted poster above:

BookHeld by the white figure — possibly the tome the party recovered from the Biblioplex.
White gown / dressWorn/held by the white figure.
  • The black-and-red woman — winged, with talons for hands and wings of talons — holds the chalice. (An evolution of the earlier “woman in black and red kneeling in the White Forest” dream.)
  • The white woman — robed all in white, “godly,” — drinks from the chalice while bearing the book, lance, and gown.

The party relayed the four-item list to Tobin via the Sending Stones to cross-check against Academy records (see S.A.T.O.). That neither dream-woman matches the Academy’s poster of the Seeker is itself a mystery — are they the Seeker at different times, rivals for the Spoils, or something else?

Session 10 — Four Confirmed, and One Already Taken

Tobin reported back from Academy records via the Sending Stones (Session 10, August 26, 2026):

“Tobin here. Checked Academy. Knows of four Sinful Spoils. Spear, book, chalice, dress. They think Seeker already has one. Will continue to investigate.”

This confirms Asha’s dream list against the Academy’s own records — four items, and the same four: spear/lance, book, chalice, dress. The new and unwelcome part is that the Academy believes the Seeker already holds one of them. Which one is unknown; the party knows only that it isn’t the Golden Chalice, which they carry.

Genni of the WitchCrafters in Pentamarone independently recognized the phrase “Sinful Spoils” and produced the Seeker’s title from her own library — so the name circulates outside the Academy as well. She knew nothing beyond it.

Asha’s Undisclosed Vision, Now Told

Also in Session 10, Asha finally shared a vision she had been sitting on since her exhausted rest in Session 9:

A figure matching the Seeker’s poster — white hair with red tips — hurling magic at a man: long blond-grey beard, heavily built, in a whitish-yellow robe. Whether he was fighting back or merely stunned was unclear.

This is the first sighting of the Seeker acting, rather than kneeling or holding objects. The man is unidentified. As always, Asha cannot tell whether her visions show the past, present, or future.

Session 12 — “Sinful,” Defined, and Two New Suspects

What makes a Spoil “sinful.” The WitchCrafters’ report on the Golden Chalice (Session 12, September 23, 2026) concluded that it generates something from nothing — no components, no ambient arcane magic, no siphoning from elsewhere. Genni’s verdict: the chalice “violates the laws of nature — and specifically, quite appropriately, the domain of the Agent of Creation” (Venus). That, in their judgment, is what makes it sinful. The chalice is also indestructible, undispellable, and hides whoever holds it from divination, and repeated use corrupts the drinker with grandeur and a god complex.

Party theory — one Spoil per Agent? (Speculation, not established.) If the chalice mocks Venus, perhaps each Spoil mocks an Agent:

SpoilCandidate AgentStatus
ChaliceVenus (Creation)Established by the WitchCrafters’ report
BookMercury (Wisdom)?Speculation
LanceMars (Force) or Pluto (Death)?Speculation
GownPluto (Death)?Speculation — [[Harlan “Red” Reed

The count doesn’t match: nine Agents, only four known Spoils — the party suspects there may be more. They also wondered whether the five blue flames at Morgana’s Tower mark the Agents targeted by Spoils (see Agents). Aren fears a Spoil against Pluto — a rebuke of death meaning unnatural, eternal life — which briefly pointed suspicion at Madame Verre (later found by Aren to be not undead, but the product of a failed eternal-youth experiment; whether she carries a Spoil is unknown).

Aleister and the sword. The Sundered Watch told the party that Aleister the Invoker led them into northern ruins after a rumored artifact, took it — a sword — decided it “wasn’t going to be able to help him,” tossed it aside, and fled. A sword isn’t on the Spoils list; the party’s read is that Aleister may be hunting the Spoils too, and rejected the sword because it wasn’t one.

Theory — is Aleister the Seeker? (Unresolved.) For: he’s looking for something like a Spoil, he carries a book (and the Academy believes the Seeker already holds one Spoil), and his hood resembles the wanted poster. Against: the poster shows a woman in black and red, and Aleister has green hair. (“That’s androgynous in my mind.”)

Theory — is She Who Fell the Seeker? (Unresolved.) At the Temple of Venus, the party learned of She Who Fell Before the First Fall — per a fringe sect, a female angel exiled from the Sanctuary in the Sky for angering the gods, whose exile spurred the Morning Star’s rebellion. The table asked aloud: what if she’s the Seeker? A fallen woman who makes things that mock the gods.

An observation, not established: the Solemn in that temple’s mural is a heavily built man with a long white beard in pale robes, close to the man Asha saw the Seeker attacking in her Session 10 vision.
